'Faces & Figures' exhibition opens February 19
River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting the public to the opening reception of its newest exhibition “Faces and Figures” Friday, Feb. 19 from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition includes 120 works in a wide variety of media by 70 artists from all over Maine. The show will run through March 26.
Artists from the Boothbay-Wiscasset-Damariscotta regions in this show are: James A. Kipfler, Alna; Malcome Browne, John Butke, Boothbay; Judy Nixon, Winslow Myers, Bristol; Glenda Drum, Jean Harris, James Napier, Christine Andersen, Damariscotta; Sally Smith, East Boothbay; Jane Bowman, Gerd Koehler, New Harbor; Connie Libby, Anna Shaw, Newcastle; Elizabeth Palmer, Carolyn Gabbe, Nobleboro; Julie Babb, Pemaquid; Sandra Dickinson, Southport; Peter Felsenthal, Trevett; Roberta Goschke, Joyce Steel, Brooke Pacy, Judy Holliday, Waldoboro; Cindy Spencer, Wiscasset.
Noted artist, sculptor, and art educator John Lorence was juror for the exhibition. He has exhibited both his paintings and sculpture extensively in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, the Middle East and the U.S as part of the Art-in Embassy program.
Newcastle-based, Lorence's professional interests also include drawing, printmaking, art history, conservation, archeology, and short films. He has taught at the Layton School of Art, Portland School of Art and the University of Wisconsin. He has had gallery representation in New York, Chicago, Milwaukee and recently exhibited at the Courthouse Gallery in Ellsworth.
River Arts is located at 241 U.S. Route 1, Damariscotta. The gallery is open Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
