February fundraiser for Wiscasset FOS
St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf Food Pantry (HYS) has been picked as a beneficiary of the Hannaford Fight Hunger Bag Program for February. The reusable bag program facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.
HYS was picked by store leadership at the Hannaford in Damariscotta. HYS will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 Hannaford Fight Hunger Bag is bought at this location during February, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.
We are heartened by Damariscotta’s Hannaford people who picked the Help Yourself Shelf for this honor. Every dollar delegated to the purchasing power of the Shelf allows the pantry to provide more variation in the self-selection area at the Shelf, as well as when we are ordering larger quantities for the basic boxes of food and personal care items, as well as animal foods for the furry members of the household.
HYS is a nonprofit based at St. Philip’s Church in Wiscasset. Founded in the 1970s by church members as a shelf at the back of the church where people could donate items and select others, HYS has steadily grown in its outreach mission to help ease area hunger.
