Feldenkrais classes return to Crow Point Yoga
Crow Point Yoga is glad to welcome back Dianne Daniels and to once again offer her Feldenkrais classes at the studio on Wednesdays, noon-12:45 p.m. beginning April 5.
If you, like so many of us, suffer with chronic aches and pains, then this is the class for you.
Feldenkrais awareness through movement classes are a form of somatic education that uses gentle movement and directed attention to help people learn new and more effective ways of living the life they want. You can increase your ease and range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement. Since how you move is how you move through life, these improvements will often enhance your thinking, emotional regulation, and problem-solving capabilities.
In class you'll be guided to do simple movements while lying on the floor -- on your back, sometimes on your side, on your stomach, or while seated. No special equipment or wardrobe is required; wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. This practice is ideal for seniors or those recovering from injuries.
Each class is a series of different movements, so it is never the same. Each class is a new movement puzzle for your brain to solve. Feldenkrais is a neuromuscular approach, which means we are teaching your brain to choose different movement patterns that will be more efficient, easier, and pleasant to do. Think of how a newborn baby has to learn to lift it's head, to turn over, to reach, to walk --- it's all through making neuromuscular connections.
People are amazed at how much better they feel by the end of class -- they stand taller, their posture has improved, they walk with more ease, and the nagging pain they came into class with has disappeared.
