French and Italian classes in Damariscotta in March
Penobscot Language School in Rockland will offer five weeks of French and Italian at the Damariscotta Baptist Church, 4 Bristol Road in Damariscotta throughout March. Each session will be two hours for a total of ten hours.
Fulvia Sarnelli of Naples, Italy will conduct classes for the beginner and advanced beginner on Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sarnelli most recently served as a teaching assistant at Bowdoin College. Her teaching is fun, innovative and enjoyed by all. Margot Stiassni will teach two French courses. Intermediate level students will meet Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Advanced beginners, including travelers and those who have had French in the past and want to refresh their skills, will meet Fridays, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Stiassni holds degrees in French and French Literature from Williams College and Stanford University. She is resourceful and enjoys meeting the individual needs of her students.
Those interested in further French practice may also attend Café Français, an informal, brown-bag lunch held Thursdays, noon-1 p.m. at the church. Beginning in March, Café will also be held Fridays, noon-1 p.m. This hour of guided conversation is open to all levels at no cost. Hot beverages are available.
