Friends of Thai Daughters are raising the roof!
Boothbay-based Friends of Thai Daughters is pleased to announce its “Raise the Roof Sweet Sixteen” celebration to be held on Barters Island on July 31. The event is open to the public but advance registration is required.
“We are celebrating two milestones,” explained co-Founder Patty Zinkowski. “The first is 16 years of successfully preventing child trafficking through our intensive and comprehensive program, and the second is the construction of our unique Sunflower Thrivable™ Farm, which will be a flagship campus in Northern Thailand. The Farm will feature stunning eco-friendly adobe and bamboo construction, a community center, sports pavilion, organic gardens and fish pond, a farm-to-table restaurant and glamping guest accommodations. Our Farm will provide jobs and training to neighboring villagers as well as our Thai Daughters.”
Zinkowski added, “Thanks to a generous grant from the Otto and Fran Walter Foundation, construction is well underway. We aim to raise the remaining funding at our July 31 event.”
The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and the program will be available on Zoom at 5:30.
