Groping incident leads to jail
A Rockland man who asked his friend's girlfriend to wash his truck in the nude has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual touching after a groping incident at a local campground this summer.
Christopher Schisler, 38, was sentenced to return to jail after he pleaded guilty in Lincoln County Unified Court.
Schisler pleaded guilty in September to one count of Class D sexual contact and was sentenced to 364 days in jail with all but 60 days suspended, with credit for time served. Schisler will also have one year of probation and will have to undergo sexual counseling and must refrain from having contact with the victim.
Class D crimes’ maximum penalty is 364 days in jail with up to a $2,000 fine.
Schisler was arrested in July following a June 22 incident in Jefferson.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Ronald Rollins' arrest report, the victim met with Rollins in July to discuss an incident that happened earlier in the summer. According to the victim, she and her boyfriend were picked up by Schisler, whom they both knew, in his truck for a ride from Rockland to Jefferson.
At one point Schisler stopped at Damariscotta Lake Park and asked the victim's boyfriend to give Schisler and the victim some space to talk.
Schisler and the victim were by the truck when Schisler reportedly asked the woman if she would wash his truck in the nude. The victim reportedly didn't respond to that request, at which point Schisler allegedly made a lewd comment towards her. After the comment, Schisler reportedly groped her.
Schisler was arrested a month later and held at Two Bridges Regional Jail.
Schisler has previously served time in prison. In 2011, he was arrested and charged with assault after he struck a man in the head with a hatchet at an OccupyMaine encampment in Portland. According to court records, the altercation started over a drum.
For that crime, Schisler was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison with all but one year suspended and three years of probation.
