Hilary E. Bartlett exhibits at First Federal bank
Local artist Hilary E. Bartlett is exhibiting her art work at the First Federal Savings and Loan in Boothbay Harbor through October.
Bartlett’s representational watercolors reflect her love of the Maine coast where she has lived for many years. She also likes to paint intuitively with acrylic inks, using leaves, waxed paper or cheese cloth to print a highly textured surface that suggests a composition.
Her childhood was rich in fantasy, stimulated by her mother’s published fairy stories and some of Bartlett’s paintings evolve into enchanted realms. Others evoke underwater imagery no doubt related to her marine biology background.
Several of Bartlett’s paintings have won awards in Maine and nationally.
Fore Street Gallery in Portland currently represents her work.
Prints and paintings can also be obtained through her West Harbor Studio by appointment at h.bartlett@myfairpoint.net.
This show, at First Federal Savings and Loan, located at 41 Townsend Avenue, is sponsored by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation. Call the bank, 207-633-2660, for hours.
