Hope M. Burnham
Hope Marie Burnham, 67, of Boothbay Harbor, formally of Barters Island, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2022 at Miles Memorial Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Hope was born on May 17, 1954 in Bangor, Maine to Lillian Morgan. She grew up in the South China and Augusta area with her many cousins.
In 1974 she married Carl Burnham and they settled in Trevett. Hope was a great person and a hard worker. She was a homemaker, a nanny, worked at the Tugboat Inn for many years, St. Andrews Village and more recently the Boothbay Harbor Inn. Most importantly she loved her family and being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed family trips, arranging family get-togethers and watching her grandchildren. Hope will be remembered for her kindness and strength. She had a smile for everyone.
She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years Carlton F. Burnham Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Steane and husband Jeff of Boothbay Harbor; son William Burnham and wife Tammy of Boothbay; special niece Katherine Burnham of Boothbay; beloved grandsons Morgan, Charles, Chris and Colin; great-grandchildren Ivy, Elliott and Sonya; and many other nieces and nephews. Hope will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
At her request there will be no formal services. A graveside service and celebration of life with family and friends will be held in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted to Halls Funeral Home of Boothbay.
