Ingeborg Russell
Ingeborg Russell, 89, of East Boothbay, passed away on Sept. 11, 2024.
Ingeborg, known by all her close friends as Inge, was born in Sudetenland, Germany on Dec. 25, 1934, and was moved with her family to West Germany following the end of World War II. There, she finished school and was working as a stenographer on an American air base when she met and married Winslow H. Russell Jr. in 1956.
Together, Inge and Win raised four children while living in New Jersey and Massachusetts. During that time, they always spent summers in East Boothbay. When the children were all in school, Inge became a kindergarten aide, a job she loved dearly and kept until retirement in 1995. She always said she had such a love for children, and she showed that love and kindness to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Inge was an example of love, kindness, and caring to all she met. She was always interested in others, both young and old, and loved to get together with family and friends. The more, the merrier! She leaves a legacy of love and kindness to many and will be missed, but never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her son, Eric W. Russell.
Inge is survived by her husband Winslow H. Russell Jr., children Heidi, Peter, and Lille, grandchildren Eric, Kirsten, Anja, Erica, and Ian, and great-grandchildren Levi and Luca, and a sister, Gerti.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. at the East Boothbay United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, please consider a memorial donation in Inge’s name to the East Boothbay United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 11, East Boothbay, ME 04544.
