Judith E. Reed, 79, of Old Sheepscot Road, Wiscasset, died peacefully on February 8, 2014 at Mid Coast Hospital, with her family by her side.

Judith was born on April 23, 1934 in Boothbay Harbor to Harold E. and Madeline H. Rines. She graduated from Wiscasset High School, class of 1952.

One March 20, 1954, Judith married Robert S. Reed Sr. and together they raised their seven children. They were married for 43 years until his death in 1997.

Judith enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, having family gatherings, going out to eat and playing bingo. Judith had a big heart and was always thinking of others first.

Judith was predeceased by her husband, Robert S. Reed Sr.; her son, Michael L. Reed; grandsons, Leon R. Doray and Joshua H. Reed; and brothers, Robert and William Rines.

She is survived by her three sons, Robert S. Reed Jr. and girlfriend Shari Burbank, Bruce A. Reed and wife Sylvia, and John K. Reed and fiancée April Koehling; three daughters, Rebecca J. Mihalos and husband Louis, Kathleen A. Skelton and husband Richard, and Barbara Lori Reed; one brother, David Rines; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a good friend she always considered a daughter, Carolyn Mank.

A celebration of Judith’s life for family and close friends will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at Carolyn Mank’s house, 432 Lowell Town Road, Wiscasset. Memorial contributions can be made to the Barbara Bush Children’s Wing, Maine Medical Center, 22 Bramhill St., Portland, ME 04101.
