Portland International Jetport passengers now have more options to apply for expedited screening.

This application process allows United States citizens and lawful permanent residents to directly enroll in TSA Pre✓, an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptops in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on, in select screening lanes.

The TSA Pre✓ Application Program requires a background check, fingerprints and an application fee of $85 for a five-year membership. Once approved, travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA Pre✓ lanes at security checkpoints at more than 100 participating airports and on several major U.S. airlines, including all five of the Portland International Jetport carriers.

“We are pleased the TSA is offering a local application center for TSA Pre✓ processing in Portland,” Airport Director Paul Bradbury said. “Our travelers are now able to sign up and be processed locally for the expedited screening that TSA Pre✓ provides. TSA Pre✓ is a significant added convenience for our regular travelers that choose to enroll. Not only will it assist the TSA Pre✓ passengers, it will also shorten the normal screening lines for all passengers.”

Travelers in the Portland area will be able to go through the pre-enrollment process online at www.tsa.gov, make an appointment and complete their enrollment locally at the new application center.

The Portland enrollment center is located at 185 Lancaster Street, Suite 204A. Hours of operation are: Monday and Wednesday: 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday: 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.

Since its introduction more than 30 million passengers have already used TSA Pre✓ nationwide.
