Kefauver exhibit opens Sept. 8 at Savory Maine
Will Kefauver, of the Kefauver Studio & Gallery, is an award-winning oil painter specializing in landscapes. He returned to painting after many years in the publishing industry as an illustrator, graphic designer, art director and executive. This exciting exhibit, “Buoys, Barns, Boats, Lights,” includes many of his newest works.
Kefauver’s first love is the landscape and the colors and shapes defined by the changing light. Of particular fascination is the abstraction found in nature, and he enjoys painting both in his studio and en plein air.
“I find that I love painting on location as it lends a brighter, more colorful aspect to my paintings, and yet I’ll often retreat to the studio to finalize even those works developed en plein air,” Kefauver said.
In addition to creating his own art, and sponsoring guest artists in his gallery, Kefauver teaches beginning and intermediate painting classes for teens and adults in his studio. Beginning painters learn the basics, from choosing a subject to deciding on the proper composition to ensure a pleasing painting in acrylics or oils. Intermediate painters learn atmospheric perspective and how to refine their composition and develop their “edges.”
The public is invited to a reception for Will Kefauver on Friday, Sept. 11, from 3-5 p.m. with delectable sweet and savory finger foods by Savory Maine. Wine and beer will be available.
