KELT’S annual membership celebration April 12
The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust invites community members to attend their Annual Meeting and Membership Celebration on Wednesday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Join KELT’s Board of Directors, staff, members, and friends to celebrate local conservation. After a brief business meeting, we’ll welcome Corinne Michaud-LeBlanc, Beginning With Habitat Climate Coordinator with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW), to present on wildlife, habitat, climate change, and our estuary.
To kick off the night, KELT invites guests to enjoy refreshments and camaraderie with a splendid view of the Kennebec River in the Maritime Museum’s Long Reach Hall. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on priorities for KELT’s wide-ranging work using an interactive ‘Strategic Sticker Survey’. At 6:30, we’ll conduct a short business meeting with opportunities to hear about what KELT has been up to this past year, vote to accept new members to the Board of Directors, and learn about our efforts to conserve the lands and waters of the Kennebec Estuary.
Then we will be joined by Corinne Michaud-LeBlanc, who will present the latest information on how Maine’s habitat and wildlife are responding to the effects of our changing climate and what we can do to help them adapt. Michaud-LeBlanc coordinates MDIFW’s efforts to plan for and adapt to the impacts of climate change. She provides technical assistance to fellow state agencies, local governments, and conservation partners, with the goal of integrating climate resiliency and species vulnerabilities into strategic conservation plans. Following Michaud-LeBlanc’s presentation, KELT will share ways that the land trust is using this research to guide our efforts to protect plants, animals, and habitats throughout the Kennebec Estuary and Merrymeeting Bay region, now and in the future.
Any changes to the event due to public health concerns will be announced on the land trust’s website (www.kennebecestuary.org) and by email. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to this event by visiting www.kennebecestuary.org/annual-meeting or calling 207-442-8400. The Maine Maritime Museum is located at 243 Washington Street, Bath, ME 04530.
