Kim Skillin Traina exhibits at The Lincoln Home
As you plan your route along the Twin Villages ArtWalk on Friday, Sept. 18, be sure The Lincoln Home is a venue on your list. The pastel paintings of Kim Skillin Traina are featured there.
During the art walk hours of 4-7 p.m., the art, exhibited in the living room, will be for sale. An artist reception will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. with light hors d’oeuvres served.
Traina's love of the Maine coast and her passion for nature are evident in her work created plein air or in her Edgecomb studio. Her pastels capture the ethereal quality of light, and the beauty to be found on, or by, the water.
In her career as a graphic designer and photographer, Traina appreciates the capabilities technology provides; however, she still loves the intimacy of working with her hands. Traina chooses soft pastels for the intensity of color she can achieve with pure pigment, and the ability to layer the colors to produce the dream like quality she achieves in her clouds and reflections.
The artist will donate 25 percent of the sale of her work to The Lincoln Home Resident Financial Assistance.
The Lincoln Home, a nonprofit, takes no state monies of any kind, but endeavors to provide assistance to those who need help.
Look for the yellow flag at The Lincoln Home, 22 River Road, Newcastle, stop 2 on the art walk map. There is plenty of parking at The Lincoln Home, or take the free trolley that will cycle by each of the art venues every 20 minutes.
