Knox-Lincoln spring plant sale catalog available
The print copy of the Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District Spring Plant Sale Catalog is now available. This year’s sale will be held at the Union Fairgrounds on the weekend before Mother’s Day: Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. As always, the sale offers a great selection of bare-root fruit trees and berries for your home orchard and garden; native trees, shrubs, and vines for conservation, wildlife, and landscape enhancement; and native, organic, field grown perennials and herbs in 1-gallon pots – for the pollinators. Plants are available for pre-order through April 27, and for cash-check-credit & carry on the days of the sale. Visit www.knox-lincoln.org/spring-plant-sale to download a catalog; call 596-2040 or email hildy@knox-lincoln.org to receive a catalog by USPS; or drop by the District office at 893 West St (Rt 90) in Rockport to pick one up.
Saturday at the sale includes vendors, demonstrations, and an information fair with displays from local conservation organizations. Offered this year are bee, bat, and bird nesting boxes from Final-Lee Acres; hand-crafted soaps from Wandering Goat; unique bird feeders from QD Loon; rustic pine benches and picnic tables from Hidden Valley Nature Center’s sustainable forests; annual garden seedlings and soil amendments from Guini Ridge Greenhouses; and cash & carry tree and shrub specials from Crystal Lake Farm & Nursery in Washington. Wild Seed Project will be on hand to demonstrate “native seed bombs”; Knox-Lincoln Beekeepers is bringing an observation honey bee hive; Cheryl Denz of Terra Optima Farm will give fruit tree planting and pruning tips throughout the day; and the conservation district will provide an extensive assortment of plant care fact sheets.
