Lincoln County Democrats host Pingree, Bellows at lobster bake August 17
Political interests bring Lincoln County Democrats together for their annual lobster bake, but it's also a chance to enjoy the region's favorite food and the company of friends and colleagues.
This year's lobster bake on Sunday, Aug. 17, promises to keep up the tradition, with leading state and local political figures scheduled to attend, generous lobster dinners or hot dog lunches on offer, plus a raw oyster cash bar and music by Old Grey Goose — all on the shore of the lower Damariscotta River in Walpole.
First District Congresswoman Chellie Pingree and U.S. Senate candidate Shenna Bellow will head the speaker list, offering their views on state and national issues in this election year. They will be joined by local elected figures and candidates, and all will be available for one-on-one dialog in the congenial outdoor setting.
The music by Old Grey Goose and offerings from the oyster bar begin at noon and the food line opens at 1 p.m. Caterer Mike Mayo will be preparing the lobsters, mussels, and other traditional fare. The cost of the lobster dinner with mussels is $35, the hot dog lunch $10. Both include corn, salad, watermelon and water or soft drink.
The participants and guests, the picturesque riverside location, and the 2014 election challenges make attendance at the 2014 lobster bake a must. Don't miss it.
The exact location of the event, made available through the generosity of property owners Linda and Dirk Brunner, is 331 Clark's Cove Road, just down the road from the Darling Marine Center. Take Route 129 south from Damariscotta, and an immediate right turn after the Wawenock golf course.
