Lincoln County Dems to host speakers on ballot referenda and voter rights
The Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) will hold its next meeting Thursday, Sept. 19, featuring talks about the various referenda on Maine’s November ballot and voter rights.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be in a hybrid format. Participants can join in person at the 2024 LCDC Campaign Headquarters, 27 River Road in Newcastle (across from The Lincoln Home), or via Zoom. This meeting was originally scheduled for Sept. 26.
Guest speaker Anna Kellar, executive director at Democracy Maine (League of Women Voters of Maine and Maine Citizens for Clean Elections) will explain the five referenda on the ballot this November.
In addition, Will Hayward, Voter Protection and Access director at the Maine Democratic Party, will make a presentation on the party's voter protection program. That program helps ensure that every eligible Maine voter is able to register and cast their ballot safely, conveniently, and free from intimidation.
Keith Mestrich, LCDC’s vice chair said, “We are thrilled to welcome Anna Kellar and Will Hayward to our meeting. Anna’s deep knowledge of Maine’s ballot referenda and Will’s expertise in voter protection will provide invaluable insights as we approach November.”
The meeting will also include updates on the 2024 campaign, previews of upcoming events, and welcoming of LCDC’s new members.
Those joining in person are asked to bring items for our Food Pantry Partnership. Donations may also be brought to the office in the evening on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 8-11 p.m. during LCDC’s Presidential Debate Watch Party.
All Lincoln County Democrats and unenrolled progressives are welcome to attend the meeting. LCDC voting members will automatically receive the Zoom log on information and reminders by email. Those interested in becoming a voting member must be a registered Democrat in Lincoln County and may make their interest known by indicating so at the in-person meeting, on the meeting registration form at https://lincolncountydemocrats.com/meet, or by emailing info@lincolncountydemocrats.com.
Pre-registration for the meeting is required for non-voting members who want to receive Zoom log on and/or phone-in details. Register before noon the day of the meeting to ensure access. However, LCDC will do its best to accommodate last-minute registrations.
