Lincoln County TRIAD to meet
The next monthly meeting of the Lincoln County TRIAD will be held on Thursday, March 17 at the Boothbay Harbor Municipal Building. The meeting will start at 1 p.m. and will feature guest speaker Chief Robert Hasch of the Boothbay Harbor Police Department.
This event is open to the public and is appropriate for all Lincoln County residents. Chief Hasch will answer questions and discuss any subjects suggested by the audience. This is your opportunity to find out what police departments do for the communities they serve. For many of us, our only contact with the police is when they are directing traffic or handing out parking violation tickets but their service to the community goes well beyond that. They are there to stop the bad guys and help the good guys. They are the first ones there when small troubles happen and when catastrophic troubles hit. They also work with other police departments and with the Lincoln Count Sheriff’s Office as well as the court systems. Come to the meeting on March 17 and get to know your local police department and how police department organizations in general make your life safer and more enjoyable.
Now what does the Lincoln County TRIAD do? The word triad means a group of three. The National Triad organization was formed in 1988 by the three groups; AARP, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Sheriffs’ Association. Now, local TRIADs are made up of three groups; law enforcement agencies, organizations dedicated to helping seniors and interested area seniors. A major purpose of the Lincoln County TRIAD is to develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and education programs for older residents of Lincoln County. Residents who would like to help in this effort are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings and get involved.
