Luncheon Dec. 18 to help Wiscasset family after home lost to fire
A fundraiser luncheon is planned from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at Wiscasset Community Center, 242 Gardiner Road, to help a Wiscasset couple who lost their home to a fire Dec. 5. Matthew Cressey and girlfriend Miranda Rumery lost everything including one of their vehicles when fire destroyed their home at 403 Lowelltown Road. The family is grateful for the hard work of fire departments in saving the barn for the livestock.
Tickets for the bean and hot dog luncheon can be bought at the door for $12 for adults and for children 12 and under for $6 a plate. There will also be donation boxes for anyone wishing to donate more. One of our goals is to help Matthew Cressey raise money to rebuy tools for work, since he lost all his tools for his trade as an electrician, not to mention all his tools for building his house.
We hope you will come out and help us help the family get back up on their feet while enjoying a little community spirit before the holidays. And for those who can’t join the festivities, lunches to go will be available for pick up at the door. We hope to see you there and appreciate your support! Please call 207-215-7872 with any questions.
