‘Maine Color’ at The Kelpie Gallery
The Kelpie Gallery will kick off its fall season with an exhibition titled “Maine Color.” All are welcome to the Artists’ Reception on Friday, Sept. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Artists define the essence of Maine’s color in a variety of styles and mediums. Featured artists are: Jill Valliere, Kay Sullivan, Ann Sklar, Donald Vincent Rainville, Nancy Lovley, Pamela Hetherly, Julie Haskell, Sandra Leinonen-Dunn, Allen Bunker, John Bowdren, Sarah Barnard-Blitz and Susan Lewis Baines.
The imagery is largely based in the landscape of this beautiful state, but occasionally takes a more abstract turn. The color ranges from the intensity of sunrises and burning red fall blueberry fields, to the subtle and soft light through the trees in fog or clear skies reflected in glass smooth water.
New outdoor sculptures by John Bowdren feature a series of large gilded leaves evoking the golden fall foliage that will soon be visible.
The Kelpie Gallery, located at 81 Elm Street (Route 73), South Thomaston, will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, Sunday and Wednesday by appointment/chance.
“Maine Color” runs from Sept. 25 through Dec. 31.
