Maine’s response to the climate crisis with Hannah Pingree
The impending climate crisis is real. Maine is especially vulnerable. The waters in the Gulf of Maine are warming faster than pretty much anywhere else on earth. Many of our coastal communities are vulnerable to flooding from rising sea levels. Our forests will suffer. Maine’s Office of Policy Innovation and Future (OPIF) has recently released a detailed Four Year Plan for Climate Action. As we begin the New Year and look to the future, “Maine Challenge” will explore with Hannah Pingree, the head of OPIF, the urgent call to action embodied in this plan which has far-reaching implications for all of us in Maine, rich and poor, old and young, alike.
Each week Maine Challenge delves into core issues that affect the lives of Maine citizens. The show is co-hosted by Chuck Kruger, former Maine Representative of District 92, Thomaston, and Betsy Sweet, long-time citizen advocate. Maine Challenge is a production of Lincoln County Indivisible and Lincoln County TV (LCTV).
The show airs on LCTV, Sunday, Jan. 3 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m., with additional showings scheduled throughout the week. All shows are available online at (search for “Maine Challenge”) and are archived at www.youtube.com/channel/UCUfJ1Jr7ytXpInniljy3_yQ
This original series is produced by Lincoln County Indivisible, a group of local citizens with a transformative vision for the future of our country, including defending our democracy, safeguarding access to the vote, enacting vital reforms to our health care system, tackling the crisis of climate change, and ensuring equity and justice for the marginalized members of our communities.
