Meet 'creatives' at Studio 53
Have you ever driven by one of the local homes near you and wondered why they had a sign that said something like “studio” on it? Did you ever wonder what was inside, who these people are, or what they do?
The Boothbay peninsula is full of “creatives” that have an alternative notion of “what life should be.” Many are here, retired from other professions, finding fulfillment in the life inspired by the natural environment of this exceptional area. Others came here to grow their families, while being able to integrate art into their lives, in an extremely close knit community. A few were even born and brought up here, with art as a lifetime vocation.
At this year's Studio 53 Holiday Event, exceptional artwork and design, in a variety of mediums (including jewelry, fiber art, print work, paper, pottery, glass, paintings, and sculpture) will be on display and for sale.
So starting with an opening reception Friday evening, Nov. 30, take some time to relax and enjoy our alternative celebration of the season, meet your neighbors, and support a non-mall experience at 53 Townsend Ave. Come find out what the “Studio” signs are all about.
Our creative community extends to our various, very active cultural entities, involved in local history, ecology, social concerns and resources. We hope to include nonprofits, writers, musicians, chefs and healers as an integral part of the fabric that holds our area in shared esteem.
The holidays are a great time to share the spirit of the season, and community, by taking in our local creative economy, while meeting old and new friends at a multi-faceted exhibit showcasing diverse talents and interests inspired by our beautiful geography.
