Merry Barn celebrates Maine Maple Weekend with Sweetwoods’ syrup
The Merry Barn’s March Community Literacy Event, on Saturday, March 25, is a celebration of Maine Maple Weekend. Join us from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. as we take part in a beloved Maine tradition, complete with locally made maple treats from Sweetwoods Farm in Newcastle.
We’ll share in a read aloud of “Sugar on Snow” by Nan Parson Rossiter and create trees representing what we show to the outside world, as well as what supports and grounds us. We’ll sample Sweetwoods’ maple taffy and their finest maple syrup, drizzled over vanilla ice cream.
When we wrap up at the barn, head over to Sweetwoods Farm, 144 Lynch Road, Newcastle, to see the syrup production-process firsthand.
Inspired by a new theme each month, Community Literacy Events at the Merry Barn are gatherings that highlight creativity through reading, writing, and the arts. Events are free and open to the public and bring together folks from diverse backgrounds and generations. More information at www.merrybarn.com or merrybarnwritersretreat@gmail.com
