'A Midsummer Show' features new oils by Corinne McIntyre
Ocean Point Studio/Visions of Maine is celebrating its 22ndyear by participating in the First Friday Art Tour on Aug. 7 featuring a new exhibit, “A Midsummer Show.” An open house reception is planned that afternoon from 4-7 p.m.
Plein air painter Corinne McIntyre's most recent landscape and seascape paintings of the surrounding area are the focus of the show.
The scene in McIntyre's “Dories at Barrett Park,” was done at the park on Linekin Bay in Boothbay Harbor.
“I wanted to capture the snow leaving and spring in the offing,” McIntyre said. “These colorful dories look heavy, but they are made of fiberglass so they are lighter than they look. They hold nets for the fishermen and lobster traps for the lobstermen. They are stored outside in the park all winter until spring when they are returned to the water.
“Barrett Park belongs to the townspeople so the dories have to make way for all the hikers, picnickers, swimmers, functions, and plein air painters. It is a wonderful place to paint. I so enjoy painting there in all seasons.”
Ocean Point Studio also has both limited and open edition prints available. Come see the new work and enjoy some wine, camaraderie and refreshments at the same time.
Ocean Point Studio is located at 130 Van Horn Road (off Route 96) at Ocean Point, East Boothbay.
