More school budget work tonight
The Wiscasset School Committee will continue working tonight, Thursday, April 3, on the town's first school budget outside Regional School Unit 12.
The workshop starts at 6 p.m. in the Wiscasset High School library.
When the panel last met, on March 26, Interim Superintendent Wayne Dorr said the budget draft was down more than $2 million from its $10 million starting point.
Among decisions the committee still needs to make are any funding it will propose for adult education, and how the new school department will carry out payroll and other business tasks.
Discussions on that have included a possible join-up with Alternative Organizational Structure (AOS) 98, which serves the Boothbay peninsula and Georgetown, or hiring RSU 12 for those tasks.
