Myra L. Winslow
Myra Laura (Sherman) “Nickie” Winslow, 84, passed away June 25, 2024 in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
She was born in Boothbay, Maine on March 9, 1940, to parents Ethel (Hutchins) and Edwin Sherman.
She attended schools in Boothbay Harbor, Portland and Scarborough, Maine.
Nickie began working in the Boothbay Region Elementary School cafeteria when the new school opened its doors in 1977 and served the children for 29 years. She got great joy from the children coming through the lunch line and made lasting friendships with her co-workers. During the summer months she cleaned seasonal homes.
Nickie will be lovingly remembered for her cheerful, friendly spirit. With her gift of hospitality and love of cooking, she loved to welcome friends and family into her home and share with them her home cooked meals and baked goodies.
She enjoyed camping with family and friends, country music, walking and exercise classes at the YMCA. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, friends and community.
Nickie will be lovingly remembered by her children: Laurie Taylor (Steven) Danville, New Hampshire; Scott Winslow, Westbrook; Darren Winslow (Kathleen), Portland; her stepchildren; Lynn Jennison, Bath; Alan Winslow (Debra), Windsor; Kim Winslow (Michael), Sydney; Lee Ann (Douglas), Wiscasset; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and stepsister Nancy Wheeler, Farmington.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Matthew A. Hodgdon and husband Herbert C. Winslow.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boothbay Region YMCA, boothbayregionymca.org or the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
