New dates, added attractions for 2025 Union Fair/Maine’s Wild Blueberry Festival
UNION — As the State of Maine designated home of the Maine Wild Blueberry Festival since 1959, and to align with Wild Blueberry Weekend established by Maine Governor Janet Mills in 2021, the Union Fair / Maine’s Wild Blueberry Festival has adjusted their fair dates going forward.
The 2025 Union Fair / Maine’s Wild Blueberry Festival will start on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 and will end on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Originally named the North Knox Agricultural and Horticulture Society Fair in 1869, the now named Union Fair continues this Midcoast Maine tradition while expanding its reach to all of Knox County, Lincoln County, Waldo County, and beyond, according to the Trustees of the Union Fair / Maine’s Wild Blueberry Festival, in a news release.
The Union Fair will host agricultural animals, livestock pulling events, Exhibition Hall displays and contest entries, a 4-H Barn, 4-H Farm to Fair, and a 4-H Yurt.
The Matthew’s Museum and Moxie Museum will also be open daily during the 2025 Union Fair.
The 2025 Maine Wild Blueberry Queen Coronation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
Many Blueberry themed events will be held throughout the Festival to include the Annual Two-Crust Blueberry Pie Baking Contest, the Children’s Blueberry Pie Eating Contest, and the free Blueberry Dessert giveaway.
A new blueberry themed permanent exhibit making its debut during the 2025 Union Fair / Maine’s Wild Blueberry Festival will be announced in the near future.
Other fair events include a Children’s Pig Scramble, a new exhibition/ education area, bands and solo musical artists, kids events, a new selfie wall scavenger hunt; and the Annual Demolition Derby will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 6 p.m.
