The Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission asks to meet with local officials from all Lincoln County towns to conduct municipal surveys in order to learn about town projects; assess current needs and potential barriers to new projects; and find ways the RPC can provide support and assistance. The survey also aims to identify what issues or needs are shared by multiple towns and how they may be addressed collaboratively.

The LCRPC wants to interview two to four individuals from town select boards, planning boards, code enforcement officers, road commissioners, and/or other municipal leaders with perspectives and experiences on town land use, economic/community development, and other planning projects. The interviews can take place via Zoom, over the phone, in-person with COVID-19 precautions, or by printing copies and returning on their own time. Surveys have so far resulted in providing support with ordinance review and development. Identification of more projects is underway.

“We hope this survey will update the Planning Commission about municipal priorities throughout the county, and allow us to potentially assist the towns in using our services and expertise,” says Mary Ellen Barnes, executive director of the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission.

The LCRPC has so far successfully completed surveys for eight Lincoln County towns. If your town has not yet participated, please get in touch with the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission to find an interview format that works best for you, and/or invite them to present to your Selectboard about the project. Currently, the LCRPC is looking for completed surveys from: Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Dresden, Edgecomb, Jefferson, Monhegan Island, Newcastle, South Bristol, Southport, Westport and Whitefield.
