The drawing for the 2024 Fish Ladder Raffle Quilt is just around the corner: It takes place on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Nobleboro Historical Society, 198 Center Street, Nobleboro, at the forefront of the modern Nobleboro Central School.

Tickets are available at Skidompha Library in Damariscotta, which is also where the quilt is on display and should be seen because the accompanying photo does not do the border justice. See https://damariscottamills.org/ for out of town ways to purchase raffle tickets. The deadline to buy tickets is 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23.

This is the fifth quilt that Betty Lu Brydges has created and donated to the Fish Ladder Restoration. All proceeds from the raffle support the ongoing maintenance of the 69 gradually ascending fish pools, and the walkways that allow visitors to view the pools and the alewives. The pools have been rebuilt over the past 20 years, but improvements are necessary.
