River Arts’ new show runs through Nov. 17
River Arts presents an exciting new show, “Artist’s Choice” in the main gallery. Juror, Melanie Essex, selected the artworks in this varied and engaging exhibition. “Artist’s Choice” runs Oct. 17 through Nov. 18.
138 Maine artists submitted artwork for this show. Essex had the challenging task of selecting 72 artists’ pieces, bringing the number of pieces in the show to a total of 79 works from the 187 works entered.
Essex said she was impressed with the caliber and variety of work submitted from across the state. She commented on the artists’ authentic visual expression portrayed in their works and found the submissions uplifting.
The public is invited to an opening reception for “Artist’s Choice” on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. Many of the contributing artists will be in the gallery to celebrate the opening. Light refreshments will be provided for this afternoon of conversation and art.
In conjunction with the opening of “Artist’s Choice” in the main galleries, a solo show of Joanne Leaman’s work “Marking Time” opens in the River Room. This unique show features Leaman’s exploration and exudes a playful and whimsical energy. This one of a kind show runs through Oct. 25.
