Rodney D. Boynton
Rodney D. “Rod” Boynton, 87, died June 1, 2018 at his home in Exeter, New Hampshire after a period of declining health.
He was born April 16, 1931 in Natick, Massachusetts, son of the late Aubrey Sinclair Boynton and Gladys (Trull) Boynton.
Rod was one of four children and grew up in West Newton, Massachusetts. He spent four years in the U.S. Air Force and was very proud of his work on the Berlin Airlift and planning for the evacuation of civilians in the event of war.
Rod graduated from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. In 1955 Rod met the love of his life, Marcia Kehew, and on Sept. 21, 1957 they wed. The family lived for many years raising their five children in Framingham and Natick, Massachusetts as well as Milford and Nashua, New Hampshire. Rod had a long career as a computer analyst actually starting in the computer industry in its infancy years.
Rod appreciated every day and lived his life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he was an amazing family man.
Rod and Marcia retired to Boothbay Harbor, Maine and resided there for 20 years before moving to Exeter, New Hampshire.
His main hobbies were fishing, golfing and he was an avid reader. Rod had a zeal for learning – he was learning Spanish shortly before his passing. After retirement, Marcia and Rod enjoyed traveling the world.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marcia Boynton of Exeter, New Hampshire; son, Stephen Boynton and his wife Nancy Boynton of Northborough, Massachusetts; daughter, Robin Boynton of Joppa, Maryland; daughter, Debora Boynton Swain of Charleston, South Carolina; daughter, Donna Boynton Daigle and her husband Dan Daigle of Boxford, Massachusetts; daughter, Linda Boynton of Raymond, New Hampshire; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 7 at 1 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
