Rotary Club helps Wiscasset students
Thanks to a generous grant from an anonymous member of the Rotary Club of Damariscotta-Newcastle, students in the Wiscasset school system who face difficulty affording backpacks and general school supplies will have their needs fully met for the school year.
Valerie St. Pierre, who has children of her own attending Wiscasset schools on the primary, middle and high school level, has been the point person for assessing needs and getting the supplies bought and distributed.
Adam Reny of Reny's Underground and Jane Oliver-Gravel of Supplies Unlimited were each essential in discounting the needed supplies so that the grant would go further. Plans call for an equal grant from the same source to be made to the Damariscotta school system for a similar purpose.
The Damariscotta-Newcastle Rotary remains eager to recruit new members in order to make more projects of this kind possible. The staff and students of the Wiscasset Middle School are very appreciative of this extremely generous gift.
