Scott D. Greenleaf
Scott D. Greenleaf was born on Jan. 6, 1974, and sadly passed away unexpectedly at age 47 on Aug. 5, 2021.
He is loved and missed by family and by his many friends, and he loved them fiercely. He had a heart of gold and lots of advice that he truly thought was in others’ best interest. He was quick to help others often and took pride in knowing that he made someone’s life a little better.
Though he was born in Washington state, he preferred to be known as a Mainer. And, that he was, through and through. When Scott was a year old, his parents moved the family from Washington to their hometown of Boothbay, back on Barters Island, where they had grown up.
Since he was a little boy, Scott spent as much time as possible going out on the water with his dad, grandfather, cousins, and whoever else would take him. He learned the life of lobstermen and fishermen. After attending Boothbay Region schools for as long as he could stand, he went into various jobs having to do with lobstering and fishing, being a sternman and a deck hand and working in lobster pounds. He was a very hard worker and put in around 20 years at Mill Cove Lobster Pound in Trevett where he was working until his death.
Other than working many hours a week, he had been in dart leagues and was a member of the Knights of Pythias.
Scott was predeceased by his grandparents, Emery and Elaine Greenleaf, Malcolm and Avis Barter, his mother, Ruth Greenleaf, his father, Stuart Greenleaf, as well as two aunts, three uncles, and two cousins.
Scott is survived by his sister, Kellie Reardon; brother-in-law, Jim Reardon; nieces, Alaina and Lindsey; nephew Dylan; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 3 p.m. A gathering will follow at a nearby location to be announced at the service.
