Second annual Mad Hatters Tea Party held at Wiscasset library
The Wiscasset Public Library held its second annual "Mad Hatters" tea party Wednesday, July 13 on the memorial brick patio outside the Used Book Room. The event was organized by the group "Friends of the Library" to thank members for their work in support of the library and to recognize the ongoing efforts of the Garden Club of Wiscasset, which has planned and executed several gardens on the library property, and also maintains those gardens. The event also is a way to thank library customers and everyone in town who supports the library.
Iced tea, lemonade, and delicious treats were served. Funny hats were worn to celebrate the festive occasion. The public was invited to join the party, tour the newly refurbished Second Hand Prose Used Book Room, and learn about library activities. The official opening for the used book room is 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, so do try to attend that event as lots of hard work went into carpeting, painting and restocking the room, as well as erecting new shelving built by inmates at Two Bridges Regional Jail.
The party also fulfills one of the Friends' goals, which is to make volunteering with the Friends a fun activity. It’s a great group, so if you have not yet joined, please consider doing so.
