Sheepscot Chorus seeks singers for holiday concert
You are invited to join members of the Sheepscot Chorus as we begin preparations for our Dec. 5 holiday concert. This ever-popular concert will feature the beautiful Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio, and include other fun holiday pieces.
The Chorus rehearses on Tuesday nights, starting with the first rehearsal on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, 28 High St. in Wiscasset. Singers must be fully vaccinated and masked. Sheepscot Chorus is a friendly group, working to perfect our craft as we enjoy the company of our fellow singers. Come join us!
French composer and organist Camille Saint-Saëns is well known for The Carnival of the Animals, Danse Macabre, and the opera, Samson and Delilah. Saint-Saëns wrote the Christmas Oratorio at 23 years of age in 1858, completing it just 10 days before its Christmas debut in Paris. The work’s intimate, lyrical setting of the Christmas story has made it a perennial audience favorite.
Sheepscot Chorus is led by director Linda Blanchard, and accompanist and assistant director Sean Fleming, both of Damariscotta. For more information call Sean Fleming at 207-380-2769, visit facebook.com/sheepscotchorus and sheepscotvalleychorus.org, or simply come to the first rehearsal.
