Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
Recent arrests
Justin C. Jones, 23, of Wiscasset was arrested March 12 for Burglary, Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer and Violating Condition of Release, on Main Road, Westport Island, by Sgt. Jason Nein, who was assisted by Det. Robert McFetridge.
Christopher A. Perkins, 29, of Wiscasset was arrested March 13 on a Wiscasset District Court warrant for Failure to Appear, at the Lincoln County Courthouse, Wiscasset, by Transport Deputy Michael Gustafson.
Recent traffic citations
March 12: Zachary Campbell, 21, of Boothbay Harbor – Operator failing to use a seat belt – Route 27, Edgecomb – Sgt. Jason Nein.
March 13: Emily Reinholt, 30, of Edgecomb – Speeding 73 mph in a posted 50 mph speed zone – Route 27, Edgecomb – Sgt. Jason Nein; Stanley Goen, 31, of Brownstone, Ind. – Speeding 54 mph in a posted 40 mph speed zone – Barters Island Road, Boothbay – Sgt. Jason Nein.
Recent traffic accidents
On March 19, an accident occurred on Ocean Point Road in Boothbay involving Herbert Winicov, 78, of East Boothbay. Winicov was traveling westbound in his 2006 Subaru Impreza when he began to slide on the snow/ice covered road surface. As a result, his vehicle rotated counter clockwise, crossed the eastbound travel lane and entered the eastbound embankment. His vehicle then struck a tree and came to rest facing east. Sgt. Jason Nein was the investigating officer.
On March 19, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Brittany Corson, 22, of Wiscasset. Corson lost control of her 2004 Chevrolet 1500 and began to slide sideways down the roadway. Her vehicle then entered the ditch and rolled over. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On March 19, an accident occurred on Main Road on Westport Island involving Victoria A. Cromwell, 20, of Westport Island. Cromwell was operating her 2008 Kia Spectra when she lost control of her vehicle, entered the southbound ditch and struck a tree. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On March 19, an accident occurred on Hendricks Hill Road on Southport involving Ronald M. Farnham, 62, of West Southport and James P. Lawlor, 57, of Boothbay Harbor. Farnham, who was operating a 2009 GMC public works plow truck, was backing into the Southport General Store parking area. Lawlor’s 2013 Toyota Tacoma was parked legally and unoccupied when Farnham failed to see his vehicle and struck it. Sgt. Jason Nein was the investigating officer.
