Sheriff's report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On March 25, Deputy Brian Collamore was dispatched to a report of criminal mischief to the WW & F railroad museum in the Alna area. The complainant stated that someone(s) had damaged a wooden phone box (approximate value $100) sometime in the last two or three weeks. No further action taken or requested at this time.
Arrests
On March 23, Linda S. Bodnar, 66, of Rockland was arrested for Operating Under the Influence, on Old Route 1, Waldoboro, by Detective Scott Hayden and Waldoboro Officer Jeremy Joslyn.
On March 23, Leo W. Barter Jr., 41, of Boothbay was arrested for Violating Condition of Release, on Chapel Street, Boothbay, by Deputy Aaron Beck.
Traffic citations
On March 16, Beth Polhemus, 50, of New Harbor – Speeding 59 mph in a posted 30 mph speed zone – Route 130, Bristol – Dep. Mark Bridgham.
On March 22, Jerry Pike, 48, of Edgecomb – Failure to display a valid inspection sticker – Route 27, Edgecomb – Sgt. Jason Nein.
Kenneth York, 44, of Warren – Speeding 62 mph in a posted 40 mph speed zone – Route 27, Edgecomb – Sgt. Jason Nein.
Accidents
On March 21, an accident occurred on Main Road on Westport Island involving Annabelle M. Kinney, 45, of Westport Island and Carol A. Norris, 60, of Westport Island. Norris, who was operating her 2012 Hyundai, encroached the center line while Kinney, who was operating her 2000 Buick LeSabre, also encroached the center line causing both vehicles to collide. Kinney’s vehicle skidded into the northbound ditch and Norris’ vehicle skidded sideways, crossed the center line and entered the northbound ditch. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On March 21, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Whitefield involving Christopher S. Baber, 26, of Windsor and Michael R. Gauvin, 35, of Whitefield. Gauvin was operating his 2013 Hyundai Elantra east on Route 17, slowing to turn left. Baber, who was following in his 1999 Ford Escort failed to notice Gauvin slowing to turn and struck the rear of his vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On March 20, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving Brian L. Lawrence, 68, of Alna and Roberta L. Doyon, 52, of Pittston. Lawrence was backing his 2000 GMC Sierra into the roadway from a private driveway and did not see Doyon’s 2008 Jeep Liberty traveling northbound and backed out into the roadway. As a result, Doyon’s vehicle struck the rear passenger side of Lawrence’s vehicle. Deputy Kenneth Hatch was the investigating officer.
On March 20, an accident occurred on River Road in Edgecomb involving Marta E. Gaughan, 44, of Boothbay. Gaughan was operating her 2005 Jeep Liberty westbound and as she was proceeding forward, she encountered heavy slush on the roadway. As a result, her vehicle spun out of control, crossed the eastbound travel lane and proceeded off the roadway, striking a tree before coming to rest. Sgt. Daniel Sceviour was the investigating officer.
On March 20, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Kimberly Jones, 42, of Jefferson. Jones was operating her 2002 GMC Yukon northbound when she lost control of her vehicle, went off the roadway and struck a large rock. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On March 20, an accident occurred on East Neck Road in Nobleboro involving Richard L. Ripley, 62, of Newcastle and Frank K. Zeller, 58, of Nobleboro. Zeller, who was operating his 2003 Ford Ranger, signaled right in order to turn onto East Neck Road and came to a stop in order to allow a plow truck to turn right onto Center Street from East Neck Road and Ripley, who was operating his 2006 Ford Ranger, skidded into Zeller’s vehicle. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On March 20, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Gregory S. Alley, 62, of Nobleboro. Alley was operating his 2006 GMC 1500 southbound and when he reached for his coffee, he lost control of his vehicle and slid off the roadway and into a ditch. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
