Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

On August 1, Deputy Todd Chilton was dispatched to a report of burglary in the Dresden area.  The complainant stated the he noticed his new iPad Transformer was missing along with the docking station, a jewelry box with numerous pieces of jewelry inside and a Husqvarna chainsaw. Further investigation to follow.

On August 3, Deputy Scott Hayden responded to a report of a theft of a row cultivator from a business in Dresden. The one row cultivator is bright yellow and valued at $295. Further investigation if leads develop.

Recent arrests

On August 1, Renee E. Monteiro, 25, of Alna was arrested for Violating Condition of Release, at the Wiscasset Police Department, Wiscasset, by Det. Terry Michaud, who was assisted by Sgt. Kathy Williams of Wiscasset PD.

On August 1, Aubrey P. Smith, Jr., 21, of Murfreesboro, TN was arrested for Operating Under the Influence and Possession of Marijuana, on Bath Road, Wiscasset, by Deputy Mark Bridgham.

On August 5, Joel G. Nein, 39, of Westport Island was arrested for Operating Under the Influence – 2 priors, on East Shore Road, Westport Island, by Deputy Justin Drake.

On July 31, Samuel Mayhew, 24, of Boothbay Harbor – Operator not using a seatbelt – Rte. 96, East Boothbay – Sgt. Jason Nein; Wayne Chubbuck, 41, of Edgecomb – Operator not using a seatbelt – Barters Island Rd., Boothbay – Sgt. Jason Nein; Patrick Moore, 27, of Dresden – Operating after suspension (civil violation) – Middle Rd., Dresden – Dep. Matthew Day.

On August 1, Laura Burns, 49, of Kennebunk – Speeding 71 MPH in a posted 50 MPH speed zone – Rte. 27, Boothbay – Sgt. Jason Nein.

On August 2, Susan Lord, 59, of East Boothbay – Speeding 46 MPH in a posted 30 MPH speed zone – Rte. 96, East Boothbay – Sgt. Jason Nein.

Recent traffic accidents

On July 31, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Nathan E. Brewer, 25, of Wiscasset and Tyler M. Balsdon, 32, of Boothbay Harbor. Mr. Balsdon was operating his 2010 Peterbuilt truck southbound in a left hand turning lane. Mr. Brewer was exiting Cahill Tire in his 1997 Ford F-350 and attempted to make a left turn heading northbound on Route 1. Brewer failed to see Balsdon’s vehicle and drove into his path. As a result, Balsdon was unable to stop and struck Brewer’s vehicle. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On August 1, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Barbara J. Leonard, 84, of Boothbay Harbor and Brian L. Perry, 55, of Rumford, R.I. Mr. Perry was operating his 2006 Freightliner truck southbound on Route 1. Ms. Leonard was attempting to make a left turn from Route 27 onto Route 1 in her 2009 Subaru Legacy and did not see Perry’s vehicle and failed to yield the right of way. As a result, Leonard struck Perry’s truck by running into the rear tandem wheels of the trailer. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On August 2, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Mary L. Brown, 74, of Boothbay Harbor and Davis L. McClellan, 21, of Trevett. Ms. Brown was operating her 1999 Volvo S70 southbound and Mr. McClellan was slowing his 1999 Subaru Legacy in the southbound travel lane ahead of Brown. Brown failed to see Mr. McClellan slow and struck his vehicle in the rear. Sgt. Jason Nein was the investigating officer.

On August 2, an accident occurred on Route 27 in Boothbay involving Karen K. Roberts, 55, of Boothbay Harbor and Sebastian F. Lapointe, 16, of Vero Beach, Fla. Ms. Roberts was operating her 2009 Saab 9-7X southbound on Route 27 and Mr. Lapointe was following her vehicle in his 1995 Chevrolet. Roberts stopped for a vehicle in front of her turning left onto River Road and Lapointe could not stop in time and struck the rear of her vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.

On August 2, an accident occurred on Hendricks Hill Road in Southport involving Ingrid A. Gundersen, 29, of Walpole and Andrea J. Hallinan, 38, of Boothbay. Ms. Gundersen’s 1998 Dodge 2500 was parked next to Ms. Hallinan’s 2004 Volvo 60 in the parking lot of Robinson’s Wharf. Ms. Gundersen began backing out of the parking spot and she advised she cut the wheel too soon and struck Hallinan’s vehicle on the rear passenger side. Deputy Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.

On August 3, an accident occurred on Pratt’s Island Road in Southport involving Jason E. Maddocks, 16, of Boothbay Harbor and Anne L. Myers, 72, of Norton, Mass. Mr. Maddocks was backing his 2006 Ford F350 up and did not see Ms. Myers stopped in her 1997 Toyota Camry behind him. As a result, Maddocks backed into Myers vehicle. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On August 5, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Kathryn Harris, 70, of Greensboro, N.C. Ms. Harris was pulling her 2012 Nissan Armada into a parking spot at the Boothbay Railway Village. Harris was being directed by a parking attendant and she advised the attendant that the sensor in the front of her vehicle was sounding. The parking attendant motioned for her to pull ahead and as a result, she struck a building. Sgt. Alan Shea was the investigating officer.
