Sheriff's report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
Deputy Mark Bridgham recently attained certification in Child Passenger Safety Seat inspection. This 32-hour course is sponsored by the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety and the National Child Safety Council. Participants receive in depth instruction on proper selection, installation, inspection and use of child safety seats. Deputy Bridgham is available to conduct an inspection of safety seats at no cost and may be reached at 207-882-6576.
On January 31, Det. Scott Hayden responded to a report a burglary/theft in the Whitefield area. The complainant stated that he noticed where entrance to his residence had been entered through his basement and just noticed the damage on this date. It was then discovered that some jewelry had been taken (approximately value is $1,500). This case is still under investigation.

On January 15, Susan Hilb, 55, of Sabattus – Failure to show proof of insurance – Route 1, Nobleboro – Dep. Kevin Dennison. Adam Main, 38, of Edgecomb – Failure to stop at a stop sign – Route 1, Edgecomb – Dep. Kevin Dennison.
On January 17, Kaden Benedix, 17, of Waldoboro – Following too closely – Route 1, Wiscasset – Det. Terry Michaud.
On January 19, Frederick Woodbury, 16, of Newcastle – Speeding 77 mph in a posted 55 mph speed zone – Route 1, Newcastle – Sgt. Daniel Sceviour.
On January 21, Katrina Nelson, 20, of Edgecomb – Speeding 79 mph in a posted 55 mph speed zone – Route 1, Nobleboro – Sgt. Daniel Sceviour.
Recent accidents
On January 30, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving William H. Bailey, 63, of Sabattus. Bailey was operating his 2001 Mack truck southbound and was towing a trailer with a Volvo EC160B excavator on it. As the result of a medical incident, his vehicle went off the roadway on the right side and struck an embankment. Deputy Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.
On February 3, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Monique R. Larue, 29, of Lewiston. Larue was operating her 2002 Jeep southbound when she stated she fell asleep. As a result, her vehicle left the roadway, struck a telephone pole and continued southbound before striking an embankment and coming to rest. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.
