Sheriff's report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On February 6, Det. Ronald Rollins assisted the Bow, New Hampshire Police Department with searching a stolen vehicle from New Hampshire, which had been recovered by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in Dresden. After the search, the vehicle was turned over to the mother of the victim.
Recent summons
On February 6, a 17-year-old male juvenile was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana, at Lincoln Academy, Newcastle, by Deputy Mark Bridgham.
Recent arrests
On February 7, Gary W. Simmons, 40, of Newcastle was arrested for Domestic Violence Assault, on Bunker Hill Road, Newcastle, by Det. Scott Hayden, who was assisted by Det. Robert McFetridge.
On February 8, Paul E. McCLain, 43, of Bath was arrested on an outstanding warrant at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
On February 8, Travis T. Whittlesey, 29, of Winterport was arrested on an active Kansas arrest warrant, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
On February 11, Mary Ellen True, 20, of Wiscasset was arrested for Hindering Apprehension, at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wiscasset, by Det. Scott Hayden.
Recent accidents
On February 8, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Dustin H. Maney, 27, of Harpswell. Maney was operating his 2002 Jeep northbound and due to icy road conditions and operating too fast for the conditions, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the ledge head on. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On February 10, an accident occurred on Route 27 in Southport involving Nathaniel O. Friant, 17, of Boothbay Harbor. Friant was operating his 2005 Chevrolet Impala northbound and as he proceeded through an S-type curve in slippery road conditions, he lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle spun 180 degrees in the roadway, went off the roadway backwards into a snow bank and came to rest against a CMP pole. Reserve Deputy Mark Walsh was the investigating officer.
