St. Philip’s Strawberry Festival returns June 25
Here comes summer, and here comes a return to St. Philip’s annual celebration of the luscious red fruit that signals summer is on its way. Remember the homemade biscuits swimming in minimally crushed strawberries and piled high with real whipped cream or locally made ice cream? Mmmm. They’ll be waiting for you at the 12 Hodge St. church.
While this year’s Festival will be more modest in scope, there will be a chance to check out the new and improved Bargain Basement where you might discover items you just couldn’t live without. Plants and fresh flowers from local gardens, antiques and collectables, and fresh-picked quarts of berries will be there for purchase. Children’s activities will be provided for the young and the young at heart. And, of course, the hot dog stand will again be present. Who can eat just one? So order up two or three; throw caution to the wind. It’s a celebration!
Weather permitting, much of the event is planned for outside where social distancing can be more easily practiced.
Save the date: Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset. For more information, call the church at 882-7184, or visit https://stphilipswiscasset.org
