Successful Karl’s Kids event helps kids and teens

Rotary Club of Damariscotta-Newcastle Annual Karl’s Kids BBQ/CORNHOLE/DANCE held in Nobleboro Oct. 20 at Duck Puddle Campground was a huge success. Karl’s Kids helps kids and teens in Lincoln County with financial need who want to participate in sports or enjoy outdoor physical activities. Karl’s Kids helps with equipment needs and in many other ways that will give kids and teens access to physical activities.
The weekend’s festivities were highlighted by a great cornhole tournament organized by Mike Prentice and Carmen Reed of Bayside Plumbing & Heating, 50/50 Raffle, Auction, BBQ Pig Roast provided by Dave Smith of NC Hunt Lumber, and Pitmaster John McKee. There was also great dancing music provided by The North County Band of Connecticut. Karl’s Kids also wants to thank Reny’s Orchards, Brown Family Farm and Barn Door Bakery for their food and drink donations. This year Karl’s Kids raised over $10,000 thanks to great efforts of sponsors, silent auction donors, volunteers and Duck Puddle Campground who has hosted this great event.
Karl’s Kids would like to thank our generous sponsors First Federal Savings Bank, Horch Roofing, J. Edward Knight Insurance, Farrell & Norton Naval Architects, Seacoast Catering, Bayside Plumbing & Heating, Hall Funeral Home, Collette Monuments, and Hillside Collision. Karl’s Kids also wants to thank all of the generous businesses and individuals who contributed to our great silent auction.
Karl’s Kids needs help from community members to help identify less fortunate kids and teens who need assistance in getting sports equipment, sneakers, helmets, and other items in order to participate in sports or other physical activities. Being physically active leads to a healthy lifestyle.
Mary Berger, wife of the late Karl Berger whom Karl’s Kids is named for in his memory said, “the kids and teens of Lincoln County will truly benefit from the businesses and people who so graciously gave of their time and money to help kids and teens become physically active.” Karl’s Kids has already helped many kids in need. Karl’s has provided baseball equipment, cheerleading uniforms, and much more to help kids and teens.
