Sunday head-on crash claims Wiscasset man
A Wiscasset man died at the scene of a head-on crash early Sunday evening in Sabattus, Sabattus Police Chief Gary Baillargeon said Monday. The crash on Middle Road claimed Golden Baise Jr., 58, driver of a 2016 Ford Edge.
United Ambulance took Baise’s wife Dawn Baise, 50, of Wiscasset, the car’s only other occupant, to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with non-life-threatening injuries, Baillargeon said in a phone interview. The same ambulance service took Robbie Robbins, 38, of Harpswell to CMMC with minor injuries, the chief said. He said Robbins was the driver and lone occupant of a 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
The car and truck collided head-on, but it was not yet known which vehicle crossed the center line, Baillargeon said. The Edge came to rest in a driveway; the Tundra was found in the roadway, he said.
The crash was reported at 5:26 p.m. Feb. 5. Sabbattus police, fire and rescue crews and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office responded, as well as a Maine State Police reconstructionist and a Brunswick police officer who works on forensic mapping, which Baillargeon described as an excellent tool for crash investigations.
The accident remained under investigation, Baillargeon said.
A nursing supervisor at CMMC Monday morning said Robbins and Dawn Baise appeared to have been treated and released.
