Support available for care planning
You may periodically be asked when checking in at your primary care practice if you have something known as an advance directive. If the answer is currently ‘no,’ LincolnHealth has scheduled workshops to guide you through completing this task, which will govern your health care wishes in the event you cannot do so on your own.
“It is often difficult for people to think about taking the time to plan for a medical crisis, especially if they are younger and healthy’’ said Lori Ann, RN at Lincoln Medical Partners. “Unfortunately, an accident can happen at any time. That’s why having an advance directive is so important.”
LincolnHealth is offering a series of sessions to answer questions or to work one-on-one with people who want to complete this process. People can stop by during one of the following free sessions, held on Mondays at the Watson Health Center in Damariscotta.
May 22, 9 a.m.-noon
June 26, 1-4 p.m.
July 31, 9 a.m.-noon
“Planning now for your future health care can help ensure you get the medical care you want and that someone you trust has the authority to make sure your wishes are followed,’’ Ann said.
