In support of Evan Goodkowsky
Dear Editor:
It is my distinct pleasure to write in support of Evan Goodkowsky in his run for the Legislature representing District 47 the towns of Wiscasset, Alna, Whitefield and Jefferson.
I met with him recently and the two issues that are the most compelling to me are issues we share – broadband access as a tool of economic development and the right of women to access all health care without government interference.
As we talked about broadband he explained his work with Damariscotta and Newcastle. He was then hired by the Maine Broadband Coalition to work with the county planning commission where he met with towns that were active in this space; supporting them with additional tools and information to move the process along.
He has also been working to organize a working committee between, Dresden, Woolwich and Wiscasset to foster some collaboration and same time, energy and money.
My work in rural economic development has convinced me more than ever that in today’s world, broadband is not a luxury but is as essential as any other utility. Evan Goodkowsky not only gets that-he has already put it in action!
His final comment summed up his work and why I urge the voters of District 47 to support his candidacy. “..ultimately its about fostering economic development and making communities more resilient and sustainable, but more importantly, trying to get to the point where people have two comparable options for internet service and we have real market competition.”
His energy, experience and knowledge of this crucial issue will serve not only his District and Lincoln County but the entire state of Maine. I urge a vote in support of Evan Goodkowsky.
