Tech support training for Midcoast communities
Are you a local librarian, community or non-profit volunteer, or tech-savvy in general? Do you like helping neighbors solve computer or phone issues? Coming up in September is “Empowering The Helper” – training designed for front-line tech support staff and volunteers at libraries, affordable housing, town offices, community centers, and other non-profits.
In this ever-evolving digital world, understanding technology is becoming a necessity. Coastal Maine Regional Broadband (CMRB) and BoomerTECH Adventures are partnering to present resources and strategies to help with up-to-date knowledge about digital devices and best practices to assist the public with a variety of technology questions.
The first session is planned in two locations: Sept. 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, 297 Bath Road, Wiscasset; and Sept. 19, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Maine Lighthouse Museum, 1 Park Drive, Rockland. The program is free, with a continental breakfast provided.
Three Maine educators – Ed Brazee, Jill Spencer and Chris Toy – started BoomerTECH Adventures in 2014, providing expert guidance and personalized resources to help people navigate their digital world with confidence and competence.
Coastal Maine Regional Broadband is the Regional Broadband Partner of the Maine Connectivity Authority serving Lincoln, Knox and Sagadahoc counties. Our goal is to make digital access a reality for people in coastal Maine by uniting people with devices needed to connect, encouraging training to build skills for all ages, and unlocking business, educational and health care opportunities.
