Tick-tock ... the MPS deadline approaches
Do you hear those clicking sounds?
That's the sound of cameras “shuttering” across the state, capturing images for the 11th Annual Maine Photography Show (MPS), the state's premier juried exhibit for photography.
Entry is open to all Maine residents, including those part-timers who have summer addresses.
Four categories for entries include Color, B & W, Student, and this year’s Special Theme: “Photo Impressionism.”
Up to three entries per person are allowed. Selections can be “mixed” among categories. Students must be 18 or under and may choose any theme or style that best defines their expertise. Submissions can be completed at www.mainephotographyshow.org.
Juror for this year’s show is Maine photographer, Kathleen Clemons, of Harpswell. Clemons is known for her nature photography, creative use of light and unique compositions. Check out the “Texture Collections” on her website, http://kathleenclemonsphotography.com, for some eye-opening visuals!
As juror, Clemons will choose only 100 images for the show, decide on the 16 prize winners and award the coveted “Best In Show” award. The awards will be presented on Friday, April 8 during the opening receptionat the Boothbay Region Art Foundation in Boothbay Harbor. The show will hang through May 6.
And, here's another sound for you: tick-tock. The deadline for entries comes at the stroke of midnight Friday, Jan. 22 – and that's next week!
More information is available on the show's website (mentioned above), or call show Bruce E. Burnham, MPS chairman, at 207-380-1863 or call BRAF at -207-633-2703.
