Warden Service explains fatal ATV accident
Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife spokesman Mark Latti reported July 29, the July 24 all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident which claimed the life of Kimberly Hilgendorf Crocker, 46, of Boothbay was possibly due to tire failure.
“At approximately 3 p.m., (Crocker) was riding an ATV with other family on the New Hayden Pond Road in Mayfield when she lost control of her ATV, possibly due to a rear tire blowout. The ATV flipped end over end numerous times, and (she) sustained internal injuries, as well as injuries to her head. The Maine Warden Service and local emergency personnel responded and she was transported by ambulance to Route 16 where she was brought by Life Flight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She passed away Sunday morning, July 25,” Latti wrote in an email to the Boothbay Register.
