Wiscasset Elementary School performs holiday sing-along
Wiscasset Elementary School students participated in their annual All-School Holiday Sing-Along on Friday, Dec. 22 before heading home for the holiday break. Staff and students were thrilled to welcome families who came to watch, listen and join in to the festive holiday music.
Just before students arrived for the program, they each received a gift of a pair of cozy holiday socks from our wonderful PIE organization (Partners in Education). Students entered wearing their new socks ready to sing and dance to the first number, “Christmas at the Hop” in sock-hop fashion. Other favorites performed included “Jingle Bells,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “La Navidad,” “Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights” and “Must Be Santa.”
The WES fourth and fifth grade chorus led the event and also performed music from their recent concert. A highlight included a song called “Thankful” where they sang the verses and all joined in on the refrain using American Sign Language to thoughtful lyrics. They also enjoyed sharing their light routine to “Holiday Lights,” and dressing as Christmas trees as they sang, “The Happiest Christmas Tree.” The event concluded with all students singing a rousing version of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
Thank you to our student musicians for sharing your talents and enthusiasm for music and to the Wiscasset community for supporting music in our schools! Happy Holidays to all!
