Wiscasset graduates!
Thirty-one Wiscasset Middle High School seniors became graduates on June 10. Graduation was held at Wiscasset Speedway. Seniors Evan Strong and Brianna Colson hosted the hour-long ceremony. The first speaker was faculty member Cameron Bishop. He spoke about his coaching experience in training athletes to be successful. He said those lessons also proved successful in life: discipline, knowing your role, self-motivation and resiliency.
Student speaker Dillon Leeman spoke about creating “The Masterpiece That Is You.” He used the Beatles as an example in not letting people label you. He recounted how George Harrison wrote about a dozen songs that appeared on a Beatles album, but his first solo album had 28 songs which he wrote during his Beatles days. “Those songs weren’t considered by McCartney and Lennon good enough for Beatles albums, but George’s first solo album outsold both John and Paul’s combined.”
Valedictorian was Mason Davenport and salutatorian was Naomi Wood. Class marshals were Latisha Wright and Garrett Cossette. Class officers are D’Nisha Wright, president; Latisha Wright, vice-president; Garrett Cossette, treasurer, and Hailey Talbert, secretary.
